Passive Passion, a 21-minute documentary on a stringent German energy-efficiency standard, was selected for the 2011 New York Architecture and Design Film Festival. The film introduces the Passive House standard, a design method that incorporates insulation, airtightness, and heat-recovery ventilation to achieve staggering reductions in the energy required to heat and cool a building. Imagine essentially turning your home into a thermos.

I produced this documentary for my master’s thesis at NYU journalism school, and am utterly thrilled to have it reach a wider audience. I continue to tinker with it; hopefully more screenings are to come.
